Reflection - Week 1 - 5/15/2022
Reflection:
This week was a nice ease into courses again after my two semester hiatus after giving birth to my now five month old, Waylon. (yes named after Waylon Jennings... my husband's idea). The fluidity of this course is making my Type A personality unsure of how to best conquer the course. I did a little bit of everything in hopes that I am doing what I need to do to earn an A. Which I know a letter grade doesn't matter, but it does. This course is going to test me.
I enjoyed reading Networked. I liked this sentence. "They are conversing with others-be they emailers, bloggers, facebookers, wikipedians, or even organizational web posters we posters." (Rainie and Wellman, 2012). It made me think of all the different type of web users out there. I'm a facebooker, tiktoker, instagramer, pintrestor. While my husband is a wikipedian. We both interact with the internet is such different ways.
Another thought I had while reading Networked was when they mentioned, networked individualism. Hearing Peter and Trudy's story made me thing of COVID-19. When people came together to create meal trains for families who were isolated with the virus. Your family, friends, church group members, co-workers, the list goes one. All came together to help. It's crazy how the internet has made staying connecting so accessible.
I look forward to more readings and seeing what Week 2 has to bring!
Good night and hopefully the Sunday scaries are at bay.
