The Design Process

For the past few weeks, I have been working on my internship project. Dr. Dennen's manuscript on Instructional Design and Development for Social Media Lessons came in at a perfect time!

This past week we were asked to share out skills that we have been implementing. I'm trying hard to not just throw lessons together but to use the ADDIE method as my guide those the design and implementation process. I also am using Nearpod, which helps educators make any lesson interactive whether in the classroom or virtual. Teachers can create interactive presentations that can contain Quiz's, Polls, Videos, Collaborate Boards, and more.

As I was reading the manuscript I came across Dennen and Hoa's adaptation of MCOPE Framework for mobile learning. I thought, "Yes, this is the perfect skill I can use for my internship project."

I basically took the questions I should ask myself and replaced the word 'social media' with 'Nearpod'.

• Does 'Nearpod' use add value to the learning activity?
• Are the conditions appropriate for using 'Nearpod' for this activity and
with these learners?
• Do any of the learning objectives relate directly or indirectly to 'Nearpod'
use?
• Does the social media learning environment support the pedagogical
approach?
• Will the activity be ethically appropriate, considering issues related to
learner access, privacy, safety, and comfort?

As I plan out my lessons this week for my internship, I'm going to use these questions created by Dennen and Hoa to help guide me in the right direction. Sometimes I like to get a little too carried away with the design aesthetic.
